Since hardly anyone reads a book now, HA! Especially that "Heavy" Philosophy stuff. I`ll cram the main subject matter into ONE page, sort of!

As a Philosopher, I`d rather ignore Religion, the objective versus mystical should separate the two, except when I see virilent poisons and lies promoted. Here`s where the rubber hits the road; The surgeon and his knife CUT! Or Aristotle`s A=A; Here, I pound that wooden stake into Dracula`s Heart; [Popeye`s cartoon quote; "That`s all I can stands, and I just can`t stands no more!"]

It`s simply time to CLEAN OUT ALL the LIES - the "BAD" Philosophy from "Religion" - the BIG ENEMA for Religion is way, way, Way overdue.
I can offer suggestions based on what I`ve found in Philosophy;

Simply, CLEAN OUT EVERYTHING "JEW". - Get the White Race BACK to ancient Healthy "Natural" Perspectives - briefly, that`s it!

I will say that Communist Obama, being a Traitor to an entire Nation would end up in the very inner - WORST circles of Hell according to "Dante`s Inferno" - IF it existed.

But all these "Christian" books of the Ages from "Pilgrim`s Progress" including the "Book of Mormon" or recent Scientology - what`s going on here? The insidious sneaky "weakness" was even spread by "Epectitus" under Emperor Nero in Ancient Rome. - And No mention of "Hesus Krishna" back then, either.

Where Frederich Nietzsche`s genius hits THEE Greatest Philosophical "home run"-VICTORY of all the Ages; ie; The Jew; "Transvaluation of Values" reaches into the Christian Philosophy, unfortunately. AND ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ELSE! [ie; the FALSE "SIN" perspectives; photo below - what these books are based on.][Nietzsche`s 1880`s quote avail.]

Briefly, the True Secret of the Ages appears to be THIS; Somewhere, way back in ancient History, Very Wise, very Ambitious men put alot of thought into conjuring up a "plan" for mastery - control of the World. Everything appears to be catagorized; ie all the Methods, all the tricks, all the imagery.
Certain methods were observed to be VERY POWERFUL; Usury, LYING, Murder, War, Famine, Theft, Traitorism, Slavery, Trickery, etc. And on the positive; Courage, Unity, Intolerance, Trustworthiness, Vision, Idealism, Determination, Patience, Superior Technology - Skills, and Methods....
Philosophically;
The Strengthening perspectives were simply buried in the Satanic Jew-Talmud, while the Weakening perspectives were inserted into Christianity - This, obviously so the Jews would be able to dominate the naive Goyim [Nietzsche`s Christian Philosophy "Dissection"; Jews "Transvaluing" everything. 1880`s quote avail.].

The trend or pattern of Historical Religions, Civilizations - really Everything; The Religion starts with the simple "good" Idealism, or simpleton innocence of ...a practical-successful lifestyle. But the corrupting influences sneak in! ie; Judaism; Socialism-Satanism into Christianity. Or Babylonian Mysticism [Mysticism,LIES] into the ancient Sun God Objectivism-Naturalism. Or, today; Jew-Bullied-controlled Democracy-Mobocracy into the Republic. Or, Jew; Usury, Taxes, Socialism, and Conspiracy into Industry,,,etc. Or old fashioned Jew Usury-Enslavement [Lifetime Indenturing!!!] of College Students now [Ha! Even their Soc. Security too!].

Notice, even Jew-Makow constantly uses a "You are Trapped" technique where You can never escape the Judeo-Christian arena. General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, says that an Israeli attack would clearly delay but probably not destroy Iran's nuclear program, and he is against US cooperation in a unilateral assault. http://venitism.blogspot.com

Ahmadinejad declares Iran's nuclear facilities exist solely for peaceful purposes and Iran is not in the market for procuring nuclear warheads. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei says Iran's motto is nuclear energy for all and nuclear weapons for none.

The United Nation's International Atomic Energy Agency notes Iran has been uncooperative with attempts to investigate its facilities and suggests they could be procuring nukes. Ron Paul points out that many people have the misconception that sanctions are an effective means to encourage a change of behavior in another country without war.

However, imposing sanctions and blockades are not only an act of war according to international law, they are most often the first step toward a real war starting with a bombing campaign. Sanctions were the first step in our wars against Iraq and Libya, and now more sanctions planned against Syria and Iran are leading down the same destructive path.

Israel claims that Iran's intentions are motivated by manufacturing of warheads. Ehud Barak asserts the world must stop Iran from becoming nuclear, and all options remain on the table. Netanyahu is pushing not only for Obama's acceptance of whatever action Israel decides to take but for stronger language against Iran that goes beyond the all-options-are-on-the table mantra.

But Obama has been working to convince Netanyahu that a go-it-alone attack would cause only a temporary setback to Tehran's nuclear ambitions while plunging the already-volatile Middle East into chaos. An explicit American military threat would be counterproductive right now, especially due to the potential for further spikes in global oil prices.

Obama says: I don't, as a matter of sound policy, go around advertising exactly what our intentions are. But both governments recognize that when the United States says it is unacceptable for Iran to have a nuclear weapon, we mean what we say.

Such a war would be a financial and military disaster for the
United States, and would be watched with glee by Russian and Chinese leaders who
— while their countries would lose some trade with Iran during a war — would
applaud another U.S. self-inflicted wound which further erodes the already
failing economy that is the base of American power.

Netanyahu will not go as far as providing assurances that Israel will consult Washington - its biggest source of military assistance, before launching any strikes on Iran, which has called for the destruction of the Jewish state. Anyone who thinks that Israel is not going to make its own decision, particularly on an issue they view in existential terms, is kidding himself.

The noise from Israel over a possible strike is geared more toward pressuring the international community for further sanctions than foreshadowing an imminent attack on Iran. Netanyahu would prefer to see a Republican take control of the White House in 2013 for fear that Obama's re-election would give him a freer hand to push anew for Israeli concessions to the Palestinians during a second term.

Dempsey notes that a strike against Iran over fears of their nuclear program, if conducted, could be without merit and might even erode the pro-Israeli alliance currently in place. According to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Iran has every right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Unfortunately, US foreign policy has boxed Iran into a corner where they may view development of a nuclear weapon as the only way to maintain sovereignty.

They are surrounded by unfriendly nuclear powers and history has shown that having a nuclear weapon is the best way to avoid being bombed or invaded. The unintended consequences of our confrontational policies toward Iran may be to actually encourage them to seek nuclear weapons capabilities. We should be using diplomacy rather than threats and hostility.

VIVA KURDISTAN !!

As Syria's crisis deepens, Western Kurdistan occupied by Syria, is now liberated. Syrian Kurdish groups have formed a de facto state in Western Kurdistan. Erdogan has accused Assad of arming the Kurdish army. Turkey has threatened to intervene militarily to counter any threat from the the Kurddish army in Western Kurdistan. Davutoglu threatens the new state of Western Kurdistan: We will not allow the
formation of a terrorist structuring near our border. We reserve every right. No
matter if it is al-Qaeda or PKK we would consider it a matter of national
security and take every measure.

Arbil, capital of Southern Kurdistan, is training Syrian refugees to protect Kurdish areas when they return home. Western Kurdistan will undoubtedly become the focus of the power struggle that is emerging in the region over Syria. Sunni Arabs and Turks will line up against it. Shiite forces will be inclined to encourage Kurdish independence if only to hurt the Sunni Arabs.

Erdogan wants to overthrow Assad, but he expects that the mosaic of Syrian society, its ethnic make-up, will remain stable. When you shake the kaleidoscope, you cannot be certain where the pieces will fall down. Erdogan cannot have his cake and eat it too when it comes to toppling Assad and maintaining regional stability. With the growing hostility between Ankara and Damascus and the fact that the Turkish and Syrian authorities have lost control of large parts of the border with Turkey, the Kurdish army can operate in Northern Kurdistan.

Threatening Syria with reprisals will only fuel the independence of Kurdistan, just as cracking down on Kurdish resistance does not change the fact that now we have two autonomous areas on the Turkish border, Southern Kurdistan and Western Kurdistan. Lebanonization of Syria leads to liberation of Kurdistan. But Erdogan wants to have it both ways. He wants to see the implosion of the Syrian regime, but he doesn't want to see the liberation of Kurdistan. For Turks, this logical contradiction is coming home to haunt them.

Erdogan accuses Assad of allowing the Kurdish army a free hand in the north of Syria and warned Ankara would not hesitate to strike. Recent developments have come as an unpleasant surprise to Turcokleptocrats. When Syrian Kurds distanced themselves from the Assad regime, Turkey welcomed this development. But Ankara did not expect Syrian Kurds would soon unite around the Kurdish army.

Syrian and Turkish Kurds have long faced discrimination, a lack of full citizenship rights and forced displacements. Now the Kurdish army has taken over Syrian towns such as Kobani, Derik and Efrin without a fight. This is a ploy by Assad to allow the Kurdish army influence to expand, taking revenge on Turkey for hosting the rebel Free Syrian Army on its southern border.

For now the situation in Western Kurdistan, enjoying de facto autonomy, seems relatively stable, but fragile. Southern Kurdistan's President Masoud Barzani helped forge the deal under which the Kurdish army formed a committee to promote Kurdish interests in Syria.

Erdogan is upset about the Kurdish army wielding power in Western Kurdistan, warning of military action if the Kurdish army starts to threaten Turkey from there. Turkey wants the Assad regime to go, but not to the benefit of the Kurds, and especially not the Kurdish army. Turkey is now trying to hoodwink Barzani to contain the Kurdish army.

Baghdad sees Kurdistan grabbing at more autonomy from central government by signing deals with oil majors such as Exxon, Chevron and Total.

Turkey has been fighting against the Kurdish army since 1984, and the conflict has so far claimed some fifty thousand lives. The Kurdish army has been effectively using its bases in the mountainous region of Southern Kurdistan. With its growing influence and strength in Syria's Kurdish populated regions, the Kurdish army has now liberated Western Kurdistan.

The recent developments have sparked stronger demands by Turkish Kurds from
Ankara and further increased tension in Northern Kurdistan, occupied by Turkey.
Turkish MP Baydemir points out the only way ahead is the creation of autonomous
Kurdistan regions in Turkey, Syria and Iran, just as the one in Iraq. Now
we got the new state of Western Kurdistan. There must be an abolition of borders
among the regions of Kurdistan, the creation of a customs union, and a new political
partnership with the occupying countries.

For years, Turkey's Kurds are deprived of their basic political and cultural
rights. As concerns grow in Turkey about the new state of Western Kurdistan, the
Turkish military has stepped up its deployment on the border. The president of Southern Kurdistan, Massud Barzani, cannot be hoodwinked by Erdogan. Turkey is trying to convince Barzani to betray his people! This is mission impossible. http://venitism.blogspot.com

Turks and Kurds lock horns over Northern Kurdistan. Kurdistan will eventually become an independent nation. Kurdish people are definitely a nation deserving of a sovereign homeland out of the territories where Kurdish people form a majority. Currently, these territories lie in northern Iraq, northwestern Iran, southeastern Turkey and northeastern Syria.

Twenty million Kurds live in Northern Kurdistan occupied by Turkey, ten million in Eastern Kurdistan occupied by Iran, seven million in Southern Kurdistan occupied by Iraq, and three million in Western Kurdistan occupied by Syria. The wish of forty million Kurds cannot be ignored by civil society. Support an independent Kurdistan now. Viva Kurdistan!

The Kurdish army is fighting for an autonomous Kurdistan. Abdullah Ocalan, the heroic leader of Kurds, was betrayed by the government of Greece, and Ocalan was captured in Kenya in 1999, while being transferred from the Greek embassy to the airport of Nairobi, in a coordinated operation of the intelligence services of Turkey, USA, and Israel. http://venitism.blogspot.com

Northern Kurdistan's area is a third of Turkey. The region forms the south-eastern edge of Anatolia. It is dominated by high peaks rising to over 3,700m and arid mountain plateaux, forming part of the arc of the Taurus Mountains. The occupation of Northern Kurdistan is opposed by all Kurds, and has resulted in a long-running separatist conflict in which fifty thousand lives have been lost.

Northern Kurdistan saw several major Kurdish rebellions. These were forcefully put down by the Turkish authorities and the region was declared a closed military area. THE SITUATION IN EUROZONE

Germans now realize that a return to the deutschmark would be cheaper than to remain stuck in eurozone. Germans no longer believe that loans granted to the four PIGS will ever be repaid. They worry that Germany is simply on the hook for PIGS. Germans had to give up the deutschmark in order to get other European Union nations to agree to German reunification. http://venitism.blogspot.com

Socialists would like to see ESM and ECB bring out the bazooka, in other words, undertake massive purchases of government bonds to resolve the crisis. A bazooka cannot restore competitiveness to PIGS, but would only encourage profligacy, kleptocracy, and metastasis of the cancer of socialism. European Stability Mechanism (ESM) is a joke. ESM's finances depend on the very same countries that it is supposed to bail out. This isn't stability, but a Ponzi scheme!

Bundesbank president Jens Weidmann used to be one of Merkel's closest advisers. Now, he is one of her staunchest critics over the euro rescue. He is strictly opposed to ECB's policy of buying up bonds from PIGS and is winning a growing number of allies for his cause.

Weidmann, who has stressed his opposition to bazooka, has now submitted his resignation. But ECB is preparing to ease painful borrowing costs of PIGS, in spite of Weidmann's opposition, to buy the eurozone governments time to negotiate legal and political hurdles to a longer-term response to the eurozone crisis.

Play misty for me! Central banks play a confidence game with us. A confidence game is defined as an attempt to defraud a person or group by gaining their confidence. The victim is known as the mark, the trickster is called a confidence man, and any accomplices are known as shills. Confidence men exploit human characteristics such as greed, vanity, honesty, compassion, credulity, and naivete. The common factor is that the mark relies on the good faith of the confidence man.

Weidmann has criticized decisions related to the ESM Ponzi scheme and other bailouts as inconsistent and highly risky. He has called on politicians in Berlin to change their course, and he has been advocating the Bundesbank's principles regarding stability. All of those things put him at odds with top officials at the ECB.

Central bank's mission to instill confidence in us about the economy while simultaneously instilling confidence in us about the abilities of the central bank itself. Central bankers are almost always publically bullish and hardly ever publically bearish about the economy. The economy always looks good, if not great. If there are some problems, don't worry, ECB will come to the rescue with truckloads of money, lower interest rates, and easy credit. If things were to get worse, which they won't ECB would be able to respond with monetary weapons of mass stimulation.

Weidmann is strictly opposed to loose ECB measures. He believes they amount to an unacceptable means of financing states through effectively printing money. In fact, he has come to assume the mantle of the last staunch defender of monetary stability.

Opposition from Weidmann means ECB bond purchases would be highly conditional, be focused on the short end, and would not aim to bring yields down quite as much as PIGS would like to see. Securing majority support for a plan Weidmann can live with represents the biggest balancing act Draghi has faced since he took over the ECB presidency on November 1 last year.

Weidmann opposes the new round of bond buying, which he says could be addictive like a drug. That's why ECB must attach strings to the plan to keep pressure on governments to reform and tighten their budgets. But PIGS will play dirty games once the ECB's actions are in place.

Weidmann muses he hardly believes that he is the only one to get stomach ache over the ECB bazooka. But Olli Rehn asserts more action is needed if policymakers wanted to avoid a disintegration of the eurozone. We need both a genuine stability culture in the eurozone and its member states and a much upgraded common capacity to contain financial contagion and reduce the borrowing costs for its members.

David Cameron points out there's nowhere in the world that has a single currency without having more of a single government. Making sense of the euro for Cameron would mean that those eurozone countries would have to have much more co-ordinated economic policy, much more co-ordinated debt policy. http://venitism.blogspot.com

Cameron, who opted out of a new European economic pact, advocates UK's position outside eurozone and the ability of Britons to do things to themselves, for themselves, by themselves. Cameron has always believed different countries at times will need different economic policies, interest rates tailored to their own needs.

Cameron notes it is in UK's interest to see a return to growth in eurozone, which accounts for 40 percent of UK exports. Cameron wants Eurokleptocrats to sort out the problems they have. Britons want UK to be in the single market, they want European co-operation, but they don't want to be in Eurozone. The euro is a project in transition that could go in a number of different ways, as all these countries have to make their own choices.

Bavarian Finance Minister Markus Soeder of the Christian Social Union (CSU) is known for his wild rhetoric and has stepped up a gear in the euro crisis with vitriolic comments about Greece: An example must be made of Athens, that this eurozone can show teeth. Everyone has to leave Mom at some point and that time has come for the Greeks. Alexander Dobrindt, general secretary of CSU, declares it's the end of the line for Greece. The following is an extract of the report on the Greek situation by the eminent Greek economist Prof. Maria Delivani-Negreponti:

It is with great dismay that the EUROPEAN LEAGUE OF GENEVA observes the scientifically and humanly inadmissible behavior of the so-called "Troika" i.e. the joint Mission of IMF, ECB and EU which leads to a genocide of a large part of the Greek people addressed particularly to the most impoverished section of the population. The three members of this "troika" seem to have no knowledge of basic rules of economy particularly those employed on the advise of Keynes and other high ranking, Nobel holders, economists. What is of particular importance is a parallel SMEAR CAMPAIGN released against the Greek nation as a whole particularly by German sources despite the fact that Greece is not the only country involved in the difficult situation witnessed in Southern Europe. For this reasons the EUROPEAN LEAGUE OF GENEVA wishes to bring to your attention the following facts.

1. The smear campaign initiated by Germany exclusively against the Greek nation wishes to present the Greek citizen as a "lazy good-for-nothing idler" who wants that the German taxpayer pays for him while he is spending his time "in drinking his ouzo*. However, the OECD statistics reveal that the average working hours for the Greek worker are 2,119 whereas for the German worker do not exceed 1.390.

2. The Greek Public Debt, excessive as it is, does not exceed a $33,300 per capita while for Germany it is 54,6. for Italy 39,4, for Finland 51,1. for Holland 138,6, for UK 189,8, for Ireland 424,3 and for Denmark 89,8.

3. The German propaganda exclusively addressed against the Greek nation, headed and incited by Mrs Merkel and Mr Schäuble, , intentionally ignores the recent achievements of Greece and the reasons why the Greek economy staggered only after 1975. The situation BEFORE this dismal year was the following:

>From 1953 to 1973 the annual growth of GNP was in the order of 7 to 8% and Greece was second after Japan in world economic growth. In the same period the yearly average Greek and foreign investment was in the order of annual growth amounting to 10% of the GNP and inflation did not exceed 4,5% throughout the 20-year period. All this economic development was effected with the Public Debt being carefully maintained BELOW the 25% level with regard to GNP. At the same time The Greek Merchant Marine became the first in the World, not only in quantity but also in quality, despite the heavy losses suffered during WWII, and it was common talk in European circles about “the Greek economic miracle”.

4. After 1975 the demagogy and incompetence of two political leaders, namely Constantine Karamanlis (period 1975 to 1980) and Andreas Papandreou (1981 to 1990), eager to apply vote-mongering methods at the expense of goodwill and prudence, committed the following fatal errors ..

(a) 1975 to 1980: Karamanlis. eager to show that he shares the socialist ideas of his rival Andreas Papandreou, starts persecuting the great capital of highly competent investors. He persecutes Niarchos and Andreadis and inserts in a new Constitution elaborated by him for this purpose the following article.

Immediately, the GNP growth, from 7-8% fell to 3,5% and the foreign investment from 10% to... 0,6% !! The Public Debt however remained in the vicinity of 25% of the GNP but the inflation followed the increase of 18% of the money circulation.

(b) 1981 to 1990: Andreas Papandreou, a rogue politician and demagogue, monitoring his propaganda slogan against <> succeeded in bringing the GNP down to 1,5%, the private investment to the stable 0,6%, the inflation rate to 19%. At the same time he extinguished in an immoral way any private Industry or private investment in the whole country whereas the Public Debt started increasing from the original 25% of the current GNP to about 95%!!!

It is obvious that the average Greek citizen could not follow up the statistical data showing in a clear manner the road to the final ruin. On the contrary, the European Union Commission knew the facts, but did nothing to withhold Andreas Papandreou from his fatal demagogic policies and alert the Greek Nation; the reason was that an increasing debt ascension ensured that Greece could pay the outrageous prices France and Germany imposed for the purchase of arms and other merchandises imported in Greece in an increasing crescendo, particularly after the complete destruction of the Greek Industry and productivity systematically carried out by the demagogic socialist policies of Andreas Papandreou.

The fatal end was predicted by various responsible Greek scholars ever since 1980 but ignored by the political machinery of Papandreou who had succeeded to have under his guidance the Press and the Syndicates by lavishly satisfying their ever increasing exigencies for more and more benefits ensured by the ever increasing public debt!! That was Andreas Papandreou’s utterly irresponsible policy for vote-mongering which kept him and his gang in power over a long period. The easiest method cherished by the European public, under the influence of the German Propaganda of Smear Campaign, is to blame the Greek people to the effect that the Prime Minister of Austria declared before the Parliament her conviction that “the Greeks must starve”. It is easily forgotten that the <>. The German people are the most apt to understand the truth of this sentence. The atrocities and Holocausts perpetrated during WWII were imposed by their leaders and carried out unanimously and enthusiastically by the German People!

During WWII Greece lost 13% of its population, some of it in battle resisting triumphantly over 6 months against the fascist aggression, but mostly from the famine imposed by the German occupation and from German war crimes. Those crimes are euphemistically referred to as “Nazi” but everyone in the whole of Europe that suffered the same fate knows that they were German. It was the second attempt of Germany to conquer Europe and, of course, the World! The Germans murdered the population of 89 Greek villages and towns, burned to the ground over 1700 villages executing many of their inhabitants, reducing the country to rubble and looting its archaeological treasures. The chief US prosecutor at Nuremberg, Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson, insisted that the civilized world had no choice but demand justice. The Nazi leaders were judged and executed but World History knows that the crimes were ordered by the Nazi leaders but were voluntarily and enthusiastically executed by the German people. Yet the German government still refuses to pay any reparations for the crimes committed with the argument that the execution by the Court of Nuremberg of their war leaders is enough catharsis relieving the German people from any obligation. A recent declaration of a Greek Committee we received says <>. The amount of such legally claimed reparations, according to official statements, exceeds the sum of 500 billion Euros.

Robert Jackson said <>. What made the brilliant American Judge so far-sighted as to foresee the certain recapitulation of Human History that we are witnessing in our days? Surely the knowledge of human nature and its fundamental biogenetic laws!

The EUROPEAN LEAGUE OF GENEVA will close this informative account with the words of the eminent Greek Professor Maria Delivani-Negreponte which so dramatically and clearly depicts the present role of the German government in the European crisis:

No doubt, German policy under the leadership of Mrs Merkel and Mr Schäuble (severely criticized by old leaders like Mr Schraeder and Mr. Schmidt) compete now for inscribing in world history a new achievement of a series of genocide and holocaust with the revised use not of a war machinery of Panzers and Stukas like they did twice in the past but by a subtle policy of economic rigour that will lead more objectively to their old dream for the conquest of Europe. The most important European casualty of the international financial crisis has been the solidarity that until recently existed within the European Union, whose foundation and continuing raison d’etre has been to consolidate nations and peoples formerly driven by nationalism and destructive national ego.
That solidarity has been placed in jeopardy by the German press’s and public’s reaction to the EU’s fateful act of prideful overreaching, creating the European Monetary Union and single currency. Seventeen of the EU’s members are currently full members, employing the euro in their internal economy and external trade. Others have been expected to join. The EMU’s conceptual flaw was to put small and large countries, politically fragile and politically advanced countries, rich ones and the economically fragile, all possessing rival temperaments and histories, into a single fiscal entity.
When crisis arrived, Germany, being the richest and most successful of the currency bloc members, was asked to contribute most to the effort to resolve the crisis. It has done so but in a hectoring manner and on terms that to the greatest degree possible exported its own values, economic culture and interests.
Its economic officials spoke condescendingly, if not contemptuously, of their neighbors. Part of the German press turned to invective, describing a European economic South characterized by indigence, indulgence and envy, as being against a North, led by Germany, composed of frugal, industrious and successful nations unwilling to be pulled down by the southerners.
Worst of the former was Greece, but Italy, Spain and Portugal were included, and France, characterized by the most important German weekly, Der Spiegel, as “obsessed” with Germany, “nostalgic” for lost greatness, “narcissistic ... wanting to belong to the North but with its heart in the South.”
Greece however has been the main target of German denigration, not without cause; Greece was accepted into the EU and then into the monetary union despite a general recognition among European officials that its finances were mismanaged (which the Greeks disguised with the help of Goldman Sachs).
History is not an alibi, but neither is ignorance or indifference to history, from which Germany has richly profited since 1948, when the U.S. decided that German manpower and military ability was indispensible in the developing Cold War confrontation with the Soviet Union, and passed an exculpatory blessing over the West Germans, making them for the nonce into defenders of democracy, wartime grudges waived.
Greece was less fortunate. Its Second World War began in October 1940 when Nazi Germany’s fascist ally, Italy, attacked Greece. The Greek army threw the Italians back into Italian-controlled Albania. An armed lull followed.
Germany, which already partly occupied Romania and Bulgaria, was preparing Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of Russia, assembling in Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria, some three million of its own and allied troops.
The Greek army counterattacked the Italians, overrunning a quarter of Albania and taking 28,000 prisoners. German troops then invaded Greece on three fronts. On April 23, 1941, Greece signed an armistice, turning to guerrilla resistance, which its people continued to the end of the war.
The weeks spent by the Germans in rescuing the Italian army from the Greeks is generally credited with having delayed the invasion of Russia, launched June 22, for a sufficient period to cause the German offensive to bog down in winter conditions short of Moscow and Stalingrad, allowing a successful Russian counteroffensive to be prepared. Germany’s defeat at Stalingrad coincided with Britain’s desert victory at El Alamein and was the turning point in the European war. Germany never won another major battle.
The wartime occupation of Greece by Germany, Bulgaria and Italy, as the Cambridge historian Richard Clogg has recently noted in the London Review of Books, caused “one of the most virulent hyperinflations ever recorded, five thousand times more severe than the [German] Weimar inflation of the early 1920s. Price levels in January 1946 were more than five trillion times those of May 1941.”
The occupation produced one of the worst famines in modern European history. It is estimated that some 200,000 Greeks starved between 1941 and 1943. In addition, savage war continued between Greek guerrillas and Axis occupation forces, with the usual torture and reprisals on the order of 150 hostages shot for every attack on a German soldier.
In 1944, the Germans conducted a scorched earth withdrawal, accompanied by atrocities for which many Greeks today consider German reparations inadequate. The official estimate is that 1.2 million Greeks—more than an eighth of the population—were made homeless by the occupation. There still is a controversy over what happened to Greece’s national gold stock.
The war itself was succeeded by civil war between Communist guerrillas, supported from Tito’s Yugoslavia and Russian Army-dominated Bulgaria, and Royalist Greek forces supported by Britain. British overstretch prompted the U.S. Truman Doctrine guaranteeing Greece and Turkey against Communist takeover. The civil struggle did not end until Tito’s break with Stalin in 1948 cut off support for the Communist guerillas.
The story of Greek relations with Germany are thus more complicated than seems currently appreciated in Berlin. Greek resistance to invasion can be credited with causing the defeat of Germany by the U.S.S.R.; Greece’s friends might argue that it gave the Allies victory in World War II.

On Wednesday, August 29th the Coalition to March on Wall Street South held a press conference in Charlotte, NC at 11am in Marshall Park, at the statue dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. along 3rd Street. The press conference announced the Coalition’s support of demonstrations at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, as well as the final plans for demonstrations before and during the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.

The March on Wall Street South will step off at 1pm, and pass by the international headquarters of Bank of America, the eastern regional headquarters of Wells Fargo, the headquarters of Duke Energy, and the Time Warner Cable Arena and Bank of America Stadium where the Democratic National Convention will be held.

“Along the march, we’ll have two people’s speakouts in front of Bank of America and Duke Energy,” said Yen Alcala, an organizer with the Coalition to March on Wall Street South. “At these stops, people who have been directly impacted by these banks and corporations -- who are having their homes foreclosed, who have thousands of dollars of student loan debt, who are having their communities destroyed by dirty energy practices, and who’s communities are targeted by the prison industrial complex -- will speak out and put the banks on trial.”

Hundreds will march in issue-based contingents such as:

The Unemployed Workers contingent
“No Papers No Fear/Sin Papeles y Sin Miedo” Undocumented and Immigrants’ Rights contingent, organized by the Undocubus -- a bus of more than 40 undocumented people who started their journey in Arizona and will end at the DNC in Charlotte
a youth and student-led contingent calling for an end to budget cuts and tuition hikes, and to stop the school-to-prison-pipeline
“Lesbian/Gay/Bi/Trans/Queer people are part of the 99%”contingent
“Workers Rights are Human Rights! Organize the South” contingent, who will be organizing the Southern Workers Assembly on Labor Day
“Housing is a Right! Moratorium on Foreclosures and Evictions!” contingent
No war, No warming! Stop the Wars @ Home and Abroad! contingent
Following the march, there will also be a short closing rally beginning at 4pm at Frazier Park.

“We are excited to welcome a number of prominent organizers, activists, and performers from throughout the South and the U.S. to join us at the March on Wall Street South,” said Phyllis Jones, a retiree working with the Coalition. “Just a few of the people who will speak from the main stage include in the March include Cindy Foster, President of the Southern Piedmont Central Labor Council, Yen Alcala of Occupy Charlotte, the Farm Labor Organizing Committee, the Undocubus, Mary Espinosa from United 4 the Dream, Jaribu Hill of the Mississippi Workers Center, Saladin Muhammad of Black Workers for Justice, John Heuer with Veterans for Peace, Monica Embrey with Greenpeace, Marilyn Levin with the United National Antiwar Coalition, and Victor Toro with the May 1st Coalition for Worker and Immigrant’s Rights, among many others.”

Michael Zytkow, member of the Coalition to March on Wall Street South and Occupy Charlotte, spoke on the Coalition's solidarity with the ongoing protests at the RNC.

Cindy Foster, a member of the American Postal Workers Union and President of the Southern Piedmont Central Labor Council spoke on the Southern Workers Assembly set for Monday, September 3. The Southern Workers Assembly will bring together workers and unions from throughout the South to testify about the impacts of right to work and other anti-union laws in the South. The Assembly seeks to build an alliance of rank and file unions in the South to challenge these laws and other anti-worker conditions. The Assembly will begin at 1pm at Wedgewood Baptist Church (4800 Wedgewood Drive in Charlotte)

Carly Campbell, a youth organizer who has been working on building the Festivaliberacion, spoke about the plans for this exciting gathering led by immigrant youth and other youth and student organizations. The festival will begin at 12 noon at Area 15 (514 E. 15th Street) and feature a series of workshops and political discussions, and culminate in a concert starting at 5:30 p.m. and continuing through the evening featuring local artists and national artists Jasiri X from Pittsburgh, along with Rebel Diaz and the Rebel Diaz Arts Collective from the Bronx, NY.

Ernesto Lopez is a Community Organizer associated with the Puente Movement in Arizona who has been working with the migrant community for 7 years. He has worked on Get out the vote Campaigns, struggled against the racist, anti-immigrant law known as SB 1070, built the Arrest Arpaio Campaigns against the infamously racist sheriff, as well as other community building efforts in Arizona. He spoke on the No Papers No Fear bus ride, a mobilization of youth traveling through the country to oppose the repression of undocumented workers. His remarks brought out the need to fight against anti-immigrant bigotry and deportations.

Coons all over America have been busy this month, and the crimes they commit are getting more and more heinous. Take Ernest Addo, a buck in Georgia. He went around to senior care homes pretending to be a doctor no less (you've got to be old and senile to buy that one), and bilked money out of at least 500 of them that they know of so far. He was recently nabbed however, and is now in a cage at the Cobb County Jail where he belongs, awaiting trial.

It seems that the first thing a buck thinks about when he rises in the morning is who he can rob next. This clown swiped the credit cards and ID of a sucker doctor that befriended him (idiot liberals never learn), then split to Georgia to start his career in scamming. He is awaiting extradition back to South Carolina to face charges there as well, after he does time for all the crap he pulled in Georgia. Coons!

Or let's try this sweet little example of Negrohood, "Jacquetta" Simmons (leave it to coons to come up with these ridiculous names), who punched a 70-year-old white woman greeter at a New York Walmart for asking to see her receipt for some merchandise. When I first heard about this, I was only listening to the news broadcast and hadn't yet seen a picture of the perp, but I knew without a doubt that it would be some nappy headed ho, and as always, I was right.

Whites have more morals than to do something so lowlife as punch out an elderly woman. That takes a real maggot. She knocked the poor white haired old lady into next week, flooring her. What a bitch. She was just found geeelty under New York's Granny Law which makes it a felony to assault anyone over 65. She's staring at seven years in the pen. Good riddance. Now that's what I call segregation! Can I get a YAAZZUUHH?

A fine example of what happens to a city when niggers take over is Camden New Jersey. This week they announced that they are completely disbanding their police department. This due to a bevy of lawsuits filed against the city by spoiled, greedy buck officers who are crying discrimination, that tired old refrain that whites are so fed up with hearing. Plus, these same bucks belong to a union no less, that is forcing the city to pay these worthless pieces of shit far more money than they're worth. So the mayor finally had enough and said "That's it! I'm disbanding the whole department!" I for one am proud of the mayor's action. The governor is behind the move as well, and will be running a county police department that will come in and take over. They'll actually have more cops on the ground in doing so, and my bet is that there'll be a hell of a lot less coons on the force. In a town like Camden that's 90% nigger, the crime rate is out the freaking roof. Most of the town now looks like one gigantic
Watts or Harlem...

I saw some pics of the city a while back, and there were knots of bucks in sideways ball caps and baggy pants on damned near every street corner. Bucks drop out of school at an early age and most are totally illiterate. Their career paths are usually selling crack and knocking up ho's for a slice of
their welfare check. It's a national racket for coons, who milk us dry for child support for all the niglets they are continually popping out. Just this month Obummer repealed the workfare law that required niggers to work for their money. After all, forcing these lazy apes to earn their keep was an outrage
to a fellow chimp like Obama! I'll never fathom the mind of anyone that voted for that talking baboon.

World Conference against A and H Bombs- NO MORE NUCLEAR WEAPONS & NUCLEAR ENERGY!!

Dear friends,R

We express our deep gratitude to you all for your warm support and active
participation in the 2012 World Conference against A and H Bombs, which was
held in Hiroshima and Nagasaki on Aug. 2-9, 2012.

The Conference ended successfully with the participation of about 9000
participants, including 64 overseas delegates from 20 countries, some 220
delegates in the International Meting on Aug. 2-4 in Hiroshima, 7200
grassroots activists in the World Conference - Hiroshima on Aug. 4-6 and
about 1700 in the Nagasaki Day Rally on Aug. 9.

Following the past years, the Conference could have Ms. Angela Kane, UN High
Representative for Disarmament Affairs, and the government representatives
of Egypt, Malaysia, Cuba, Mexico and Norway. Their speeches were all
enlightening and impressed the participants that humans should overcome the
folly of relying on nuclear weapons; and the only way is to agree on a
legally binding treaty banning all nuclear weapons. The document adopted by
the Conference placed focus on the need for the implementation of the
agreements of the 2010 NPT Review Conference, and further paid a special
attention to the joint statement of the 16 Governments on the humanitarian
dimension of nuclear disarmament, which was set forward at the NPT PrepCom
held last May.

Discussion of the Conference focused on what we should do to get the
agreements of the 2010 NPT Review Conference implemented, in particular, to
achieve the commencement of negotiations for a nuclear weapons convention.
Active exchange of opinions and experiences was made on how to build up
public support for the abolition of nuclear weapons in the situation that
people of the world are suffering from worldwide economic crisis and the
damage of radiation such as that of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant
accident. It was made clear that the causes of people's sufferings such as
poverty, unemployment, difficulties of livelihood were linked with the
military-first politics, including war and budgets relating to nuclear
weapons. At the same time, we did not overlook that there is a growing
groundswell of people's energy in the world for resolving these problems.
It was emphasized that joining effort with these broader range of people and
movements was important.

Testimonies of the Hibakusha (A-bomb sufferers) and nuclear victims
represented humanitarian consequences of use of nuclear weapons. Their
sufferings were shared by those who are oppressed under the rule of the US
military and the military-first policy of each country. Recognizing that
the root cause of their problems is same, solidarity between the victims and
the participants was deepened.

Almost all participants shed tears to hear the speech of the mayor of Namie
town, Fukushima prefecture and an appeal from a Fukushima prefectural high
school student. Nuclear crisis caused by the severe accident of the
Fukushima Daiichi Power Plant has still left more than 160,000 people in
refuge. The International Declaration expressed our firm determination to
develop solidarity with a broad range of movements for a shift from nuclear
power to renewable energy resources.

Through the discussions of the Conference, we were convinced that achieving
a total ban on nuclear weapons would open a new page in overcoming these
problems facing humanity.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki teach humanity that the use of nuclear weapon is a
crime against humanity; the action to eliminate nuclear weapons concerns
everyone, governments and civil society alike, for which all citizens around
the world should work.

We, as the movement working in a country where people suffered the “hell on
earth”, renewed our determination to make the utmost effort to make known to
the public the consequences of the A-bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and
build up public opinion and actions, including the petition campaign, to
create a world without nuclear weapons.

Resolution of the 2012 World Conference against A & H Bombs – Nagasaki　
Letter from Nagasaki to the Governments of the World

Having experienced the horrors of nuclear weapons, we, together with the Hibakusha, call on all the governments of the world to make the utmost effort to open the door to a world without nuclear weapons, taking aim at the 2015 NPT Review Conference.

Sixty-seven years ago, the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki destroyed the two cities completely in an instant, killing numerous civilians, including women, children and the elderly. About 210,000 people died by the end of that year, and hundreds of thousands of people have died in later years after suffering from the aftereffects of the atomic bombs. And still now, some 200,000 surviving victims are living with great pain and hardship. Burnt by the heat rays, torn by the blasts and struck by deadly radiation, they have barely survived. All of them were innocent civilians who should have been protected in time of war.

The atrocity of Hiroshima and Nagasaki clearly shows that the use of nuclear weapons is a crime against humanity infringing human dignity. This should never be repeated anywhere on the earth. Removing the threat of nuclear weapons is a common and imminent task for the international community.

The voices calling for a total ban and elimination of nuclear weapons are now prevailing in world opinion. The 2010 NPT Review Conference agreed to achieve “peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons,” and urged all countries of the world to make special efforts to create a framework to secure such a world. Negotiations for a nuclear weapons convention should be started without delay as a practical implementation of this agreement.

We call on all the governments of the world to take the following actions:
- To demonstrate your initiatives for the start of negotiations on a nuclear weapons convention in the international political arenas, including those of the United Nations and the NPT Review process. Effort should be made to ensure the success of the 2012 international conference on a nuclear weapons-free zone in the Middle East, as agreed upon at the 2010 NPT Review Conference.
- To note the unprecedented damage and inhumane consequences of the use of nuclear weapons and support the efforts of the Hibakusha (A-bomb sufferers) and civil society to make known the damage and aftereffects of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to the world public.

Now is the time to respond to the outcry of the Hibakusha, “No More Hiroshimas! No More Nagasakis!” We ardently look forward to your sincere response.

Appeal from Hiroshima

On 6 August 67 years ago, an atomic-bomb attack by the United States devastated the city of Hiroshima and turned it into a hell on earth. The Hibakusha, A-bomb sufferers are still tormented by pain in their bodies and minds that affects their livelihood.

The use of nuclear weapons is a crime against humanity. Nuclear weapons should be banned and eliminated without delay.

Meanwhile, while suffering from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident continue, citizens’ voices and actions for zero nuclear power plants are reaching a groundswell in Japan. Movements to protect lives, livelihoods and peace are also developing nationwide. Grasping this momentum, it is time for us to carry forward the movement to achieve a world without nuclear weapons.

The call for the start of negotiations on a convention banning nuclear weapons is now echoing in the arena of international politics. The signatures we have collected so far are displayed in the United Nations headquarters as a symbol of world public opinion. In response to our call, an increasing number of governments is strengthening efforts to achieve a ban on nuclear weapons, focusing on their inhumanity. It is high time for us to take further actions to realize the abolition of nuclear weapons.

With the aim being set at the coming session of the United Nations General Assembly this fall as well as the next Preparatory Committee to the 2015 NPT Review Conference, let us develop the signature campaign in support of the Appeal for a Total Ban on Nuclear Weapons more broadly, involving whole communities including local governments.

Together with the Hibakusha, let us organize A-bomb photo exhibitions in many more places to make known to a wider range of people the damage of the atomic bombings and the cruelty of nuclear weapons. We can never allow any underestimation of the A-bomb damage. We demand a drastic improvement of the relief measures for the Hibakusha and state compensation. Let us further strengthen activities for support and solidarity with the Hibakusha.

We urge the Japanese government to play a role becoming that of the world’s only A-bombed country on the task of abolishing nuclear weapons. To this end, it should scrap its secret nuclear agreement with the U.S., observe the “Three Non-Nuclear Principles” strictly, and break away from the nuclear umbrella.

Further, let us develop the movements in Okinawa and all over Japan to stop the planned deployment of Ospreys. We demand the removal of Futenma Air Base and all other U.S. military bases stationed in Japan. Let us oppose the deployment and port calls of nuclear warships and broaden the campaign to defend and honor Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution.

Let us deepen solidarity with the movements for zero nuclear power plants, sharing one common desire of no more radiation damage. We will study and discuss with a broad range of people about the relationship between nuclear weapons and nuclear power, the damage of radiation, and the inhuman nature of the use of nuclear energy for military purposes.

The cause of the nuclear accident and where its responsibility lies should be made clear. We will work for the provision of compensation and health monitoring for the sufferers, and for cleanup and rehabilitation of the affected areas. Let us develop cooperation and joint efforts for a shift from depending on nuclear energy to the use of renewable energy.

Now is the time for us to join hands with citizens, local and national governments and the United Nations to open the door to a world without nuclear weapons.

Vaclav Klaus asserts the main problem of Fourth Reich is the European economic and social system that doesn't allow for a rapid economic growth. The European Soziale
Marktwirtschaft prefers social policy based on income redistribution to productive work. It prefers free-time and long holidays to hard work. It prefers consumption to investments, debts to savings, security to risk-taking.

All of it is part of a broader civilizational and cultural problem, deeply rooted in the European continent or in most of its countries. It can't be exterminated overnight, it can't be changed as a result of one or another EU summit, it can't be changed by painless cosmetic changes. It requires a deep systemic change, something structurally similar to the task East Europe had to accomplish at the fall of communism.

Barroso notes it is particularly important that in the current efforts of adjustment of some of EU member states, the core of their welfare system is not dismantled. If we want - and Barroso certainly does - to keep our social market economy we have to reform some aspects of these systems. But not at the price of questioning their principles and achievements.

Fourthreichian fiscal union is the Trojan horse for overall harmonization of economic rules, policies, and laws in Fourth Reich. Any eurozone problem is interpreted as a consequence of the lack of harmonization and leads to another wave of a creeping harmonization. Fuehrer Merkollande frequently declares that coordinating tax policies and labor laws is not just about currency issues but also about political cooperation, which has to be deepened. In other words, more enslavement to Brussels, transforming the confederation to a federation!

The current crisis has been particularly difficult for our youth. Across the European Union more than one out of every five youngsters seeking a job cannot find one. In some member states the figure is one in two. Even when they have found jobs 42.5 % of young employees are on temporary contracts.

More than anything these figures demonstrate that the current crisis is not just economic. It has a social dimension which could drive a deeper disconnect between politicians and their electorate, and indirectly also between the EU and its citizens. Barroso asserts these broader issues must and will be addressed. One element is to demonstrate even more clearly that our policies can change lives for the better.

Vaclav Klaus points out Europe is not yet at the end of its journey. The de-democratization process goes on. The acronyms change further, together with the incoming stages of the unification process: EEC – EC – EU – EMU – EFU – EPU. We are now approaching the last but one stage, the European Fiscal Union, which looks for some people like a useful solution to the recent collapse of the previous stage, of the European Monetary Union. And there are further dreams on the side of the global governance adherents in Europe about moving towards the final stage – the full-fledged European Political Union which will undoubtedly become the global governance paradise.

Barroso says much more must be done to invest in training, better match skills to labour market needs and to shift the burden of taxation away from labour. These measures are no quick fix, but they will ensure that, when growth returns, it is job-rich growth. http://venitism.blogspot.com

To Klaus`s great regret, the region of Central and Eastern Europe – with its unfortunate communist experience – isn't of much help. Klaus expected greater resistance among the citizens of these countries to such plans, but it hasn't come. The people in these countries misinterpreted the European reality. They were not sufficiently attentive to its nuances and undergoing tendencies. They believed and still do believe that they were marching back to Europe of democratic nation-states whereas the direction in which they are going is avanti into the supranationalist European Union. The global governance exponents keep telling them that even the slightest criticism of this road is an implicit appeal to return to the Soviet Union-type state of affairs. It is difficult to convince the ordinary people that it is the other way round.

The main actions on employment, including youth employment, will of course remain on national level. But to supplement this, the European level can and will also play its part. In the short term the Commission is already using all its instruments and working closely with national governments to combat unemployment.

At a time when resources for investment are finite we need to invest wisely, strategically and insure the maximum benefits from each euro. Here Barroso believes the European Union budget has an important role to play. Of course in these times of fiscal consolidation it is an easy target. But for a very small budget - just over 1% of EU GDP - Barroso declres it has a significant impact and generates benefits far in excess of its immediate modest cost.

Klaus who lived in communism knows that fighting the concept of nation-states is very unfortunate. The current moving away from nation-states in Europe is based on an irrational but very easily embraced story that nation-states are responsible for wars. This is what the children are taught at schools. This is what the politicians in Europe repeat when they run out of arguments. Klaus is afraid that it is much worse than we assume – they probably even believe in it. We must patiently argue that the only guarantee for peace is democracy, freedom and prosperity, not global governance. http://venitism.blogspot.com

Barroso says if EU Member States want to be serious about investing in growth and jobs, then an ambitious, targeted and realistic EU budget with added value should be supported. That is vital for our shared European success. It's hard to climb a mountain together if everybody has one hand tied behind their back.

Fourth Reich is an illegal confederation that has no voted constitution, a flag no one salutes, an anthem no one sings, a Fuehrer no one can name, a parliament of prostitutes, a capital of huge bureaucracy no one controls, a currency that soon will not exist, rules of fiscal behavior that no member has been penalized for ignoring, a commission which is the Eldorado of corruption, brutal cybercops, and kleptocrats galore! Ode to Joy is the anthem of Fourth Reich. It is based on the final movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, and it's used without lyrics.

Barroso declares we need to follow, not simply to overcome the crisis, but to exit it as a stronger, more united and more competitive Europe; a Europe of sustainable long-term growth; a Europe that enables its people to grow, and that continues its economic and social success in a competitive global environment.

Vaclav Klaus points out that in good economic weather, even the non-optimal currency area could function. When bad weather came – e.g. the financial and economic crisis at the end of the last decade – all the weaknesses, inefficiencies, discrepancies, imbalances and disequilibria became evident and the monetary union ceased to properly function. This can´t be considered a surprise.

Klaus notes the European Union decision-makers did not want to take this into consideration. Their way of thinking was evidently based on a communist type of reasoning: economic laws do not exist, politics may dictate economics. Some of us have been very sensitive to this for a very long time. People like Klaus were raised in an era when such a mode of thinking was dominant in their countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Some of them dared to express their disagreement with it already in the past. They were considered enemies then, they are considered enemies now.

You might expect a Portuguese to have a seafaring metaphor. But Barroso will borrow an alpinist quote – after all, the highest peak of Portugal, Mount Pico in the Azores, reaches an astonishing 2351 metres. And Barroso knows that because he climbed it. It was part of his campaign to become Prime Minister!

The great Tyrolean mountaineer Peter Habeler has said of his famous ascent of Everest without oxygen that his was not a victory over the mountain - it was a victory over himself! And it was achieved not through finishing the journey but by taking the first steps. This is true, but Barroso thinks we can all agree that Habeler also demonstrated great courage and resolve not just in starting his journey but in successfully completing it.

Barroso muses that is exactly what we need for Europe: to complete our work, to complete the economic and monetary union, to be determined and consistent, to stay the course, not to expect miracles, but to focus on implementation and results. Step by step. But always with the broad horizon in mind.

Barroso declares Europe's path is clear and like Peter Habeler we are pressing on with determination. But again, much hard work is needed at the European level and nationally if we are to walk it successfully and continue our European journey together. http://venitism.blogspot.com

WASHINGTON — An Army officer being promoted to brigadier general openly acknowledged her homosexuality on Friday by having her wife pin her star to her uniform, thus becoming the first openly gay officer of flag rank in the United States military.

Brig. Gen. Tammy S. Smith and her wife, Tracey Hepner. General Smith is the first openly gay officer of flag rank in the American military.

The officer, Brig. Gen. Tammy S. Smith, 49, a 26-year veteran of the Army, was promoted in a ceremony at the women’s memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. The star was affixed by Tracey Hepner, who was a co-founder last year of the Military Partners and Families Coalition, which “provides support, resources, education and advocacy for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender military partners and their families,” according to its Web site.

The couple married in March 2012 in the District of Columbia.

The military dropped its “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy for gay service members on Sept. 20, 2011, after a change in federal law.

The Army said that General Smith was not available for an interview on Sunday. However, she said in a statement that the Defense Department had made sexual orientation a private matter, but that “participating with family in traditional ceremonies such as the promotion is both common and expected of a leader.”

Sue Fulton, a spokeswoman for OutServe, a two-year-old organization of lesbians and gay men in the military, said Sunday that it was “highly unlikely” that General Smith was the only gay officer of her rank. She called General Smith’s public acknowledgment significant.

“I would say that it’s important to recognize ‘the first,’ because then the next person doesn’t have to be first,” said Ms. Fulton, a 1980 West Point graduate. “Once we get over each ‘first,’ each hurdle of ‘Well, that’s never been done before,’ it makes it a nonissue going forward.”

Ms. Fulton, who was honorably discharged as a captain in 1986, said she left the Army because of the strains of maintaining a secret lesbian relationship. She called the promotion ceremony in which General Smith acknowledged being gay part of the best in Army tradition. Ms. Fulton quoted a speech last September in which the Army chief of staff, Gen. Ray Odierno, said that “the strength of our Army is our soldiers; the strength of our soldiers is our families.”

Ms. Fulton said she had no doubt that General Smith’s superiors knew of her sexual orientation when they selected her for promotion.

As a colonel, General Smith was deployed in Afghanistan from December 2010 to October 2011 as the chief of Army Reserve Affairs. She currently serves in Washington as the deputy chief of the Army Reserve.
